Are you chasing the result of a test ordered by the surgery?
The Requesting clinician may contact you directly with the result
Once a test result comes back to us (for example a blood test result or an x-ray report) the results appear on our “clinical system” inbox. Every test result is looked at individually and a decision made as to what action is needed. In total we get around 250 results coming back to us per day (this includes the weekend). The results go back to the clinician who requested the test.
If there is an abnormality the clinician will contact you either directly, via an online message or via our reception team.
If there are no concerns about the results the clinician may file the result to your records without directly contacting you. Due to the volume of results processed on a daily basis it isn’t possible to contact every patient directly. However if want to chase a result you can use one of the options below.
Use the NHS app
The quickest and most convenient way to see your test result is using the NHS app.
You will find your results under the “Test results” section of the app.
Please note you will only be able to see the result after it has been looked at and processed by one of the clinicians in the practice.
Ask for results using PATCHS
You can use our online consultation service PATCHS to ask for a result.
Once logged in you can make a request for a test result using the “admin” option.
Please note the admin team will only be able to let you know the result once I that been looked at and processed b y one of the clinicians in the practice.

Are you chasing a test ordered by the hospital?
Please note that any tests ordered by the hospital do not come back to us directly.
Tests will go back to the hospital doctor who made the request for the test.
It is the responsibility of the hospital team to let you know the results of a test they ordered, not your GP.
If you are chasing a result ordered by the hospital please directly contact the department who ordered your test. You can contact the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Switchboard on 01603 286 286.
