At 6-8 weeks, your baby should have a thorough physical examination. This is usually done by a GP.
Your baby’s eyes, heart, hips and – for boys – testicles will be checked. They’ll also have their weight and other relevant measures taken.
A GP or health visitor will discuss your baby’s vaccinations with you. These are offered at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 12 months old, and before your child starts school.
They’ll also ask you how you’ve been feeling emotionally and physically since the birth of your baby.
Diabetes and Asthma
Recall systems are run for our non-insulin diabetes and asthmatic patients. You will be invited to attend, but please contact the doctor or nurse at any time if you have any worrying symptoms.
Flu and Pneumonia
We offer immunisations each autumn to all patients over 65 years old or those, including children, who have conditions such as asthma, diabetes, chest and heart disease.
Please ask reception about our flu clinics (carers are also eligible).
Family Planning
Our practice nurses and doctors will advise you on the best method of contraception for you.
We provide a full range of family planning services including:
Contraceptive pill
Fitting of caps
Contraceptive injection
Contraceptive implant
Coil removal and fitting
Cervical Smears
Cervical smears are routinely recommended every three years for women between age 25 and 49. After this, every five years until 65 years old.
You will be sent an invitation from NHS Norfolk when your smear is due.
Appointments should be made with one of our healthcare assistants. If this is for a fasting test, you should starve from 22:00 the night before. Please note that water is allowed.
Non-NHS Work
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges.
Examples include the following:
Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
Insurance claim forms
Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
Private sick notes
Vaccination certificates
There will be a charge for non-NHS services. Due to demands on services and clinicians we have recently raised our fees. These charges are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales. Where the patient is responsible for the fee of the work you will be asked to pay prior to the request being processed.
From September 1st 2024 we will no longer be accepting cash and only be accepting card payments for private work.
If you would like further information, please speak to a member of our reception staff.
